Student Producer’s Role<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Production Overview<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Equipment<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Echo Recording<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n WebEx Recording<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Panopto Recording<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Notes<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Editing and Posting<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Who<\/strong> are the Student Producers?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n You!\u00a0 Student Producers are constantly being hired of every major and background found here at Iowa State.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Why<\/strong> does ELO need Student Producers?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Every semester Iowa State University has an increasing demand for more classes to be offered online.\u00a0 Engineering\/LAS Online Learning has taken on the challenge of providing more and more quality online classes to Iowa State Students every semester.\u00a0 Responsible and motivated Student Producers such as yourself are hired to serve as the backbone of the department to get all the classes recorded.\u00a0 Without Student Producers, Iowa State would not be able to provide online courses.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n What<\/strong> is expected from a Student Producer?<\/span> <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n As a Student Producer, you are expected to carry a great deal of responsibility, self motivation, teamwork, and a positive attitude.<\/span><\/p>\n A Student Producer’s first and most important role is to record a class.\u00a0 When assigned a class you are expected to arrive 10 minutes before and usually stay another 10 minutes after.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 Before a class can begin, a Student Producer must ensure all of the recording programs and equipment is functioning correctly and ready to record.\u00a0 While the class is being recorded, the Student Producer must stay attentive to ensure no technological issues come up.\u00a0 After the class session has ended the Student Producer must end the recordings and save the lecture notes.\u00a0 Every Student Producer is expected to build a respectable and positive rapport with the instructor.<\/span><\/p>\n A Student Producer’s second most important role is class post-production.\u00a0 After a class has been recorded by the primary Student Producer, the other Student Producers work as a team to ensure every class is edited and uploaded correctly to Blackboard Learn for the online students to easily access. <\/span><\/p>\n Other Expectations of a Student Producer:<\/span><\/p>\n The quickest way to lose your role as a student producer is to show up late or not at all without informing Matt, Misty, or any senior producers.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Where<\/strong> does a Student Producer work?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n The primary office for Engineering\/LAS Online learning is located in 1328 Howe Hall.\u00a0 The primary Student Producer workspace is located in the control room within the office.\u00a0 The two primary recording spaces for Howe 1324 and 1344 are also located in the back control room.<\/span><\/p>\n Besides Howe, ELO has production ready classrooms all over campus and has the flexibility to perform custom recordings in requested rooms as well.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n How<\/strong> does a Student Producer go about recording or editing a class?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Great question!\u00a0 That’s what this entire website is focused on answering.<\/span><\/p>\n We hope by the end of this training process you will have a much better understanding of what we do and how we do it.\u00a0 We want you to feel comfortable stepping out into the classrooms and trying it for yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n Remember, nothing can replace first hand experience and don’t be afraid to ask questions.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Jump to… Student Producer’s Role Production Overview Equipment Echo Recording WebEx Recording Panopto Recording Notes Editing and Posting Who are the Student Producers?
